The Set Bump just announced the sixth annual Brickworld Film Festival on their website. The film festival will occur at Brickworld Chicago 2017 and will be run by David Pickett and David Pagano, the guys that wrote the LEGO Animation Book. The two brickfilming gurus will also be running a LEGO animation workshop, screening a special film, showcasing models from their latest animations and more. This is the first year that you don't need to be a Brickworld Chicago registrant to enter. Two prizes will be awarded for the Brickworld Film Festival. One prize will be for registrants of Brickworld Chicago 2017 and another prize will be for best of festival. The judges will be the attendees of Brickworld Chicago 2017. On March 30, 2017 Philip Heinrich (Sméagol) announced that after eight years it is now time for him to "pass the torch.” He wrote on a BIM Forum that Seán Willis (Penta) will be the chief administrator of BricksInMotion.com. Philip will continue to be the site owner and will help out with the transition as needed. Check out the A BricksInMotion.com Announcement forum thread on BIM. Philip has been the administrator of BricksInMotion.com since 2009. In the BIM announcement Heinrich praises Seán Willis for having “strong passion for the hobby and the community.” He also mentions Seán’s extensive work for brickfilms wikia.
BFG member Darren Taylor (Dt98films) recently did an interview for television at his home studio in Aberdeen, Scotland. Darren gained notoriety for making a popular LEGO recreation of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING - Trailer IN LEGO which was released in December 2016. That video currently has over 620,000 views. The interview was for Live at Five on STV which is “Scotland's biggest daily magazine show bringing you the best local chat, stories, music, cooking and features from across the country.” Great and fun interview! |
