LEGO Rebrick is hosting another brickfilming competition. This time it is a NINJAGO themed contest. The goal is to “create a story around existing NINJAGO bad guys or build our own super villain(s).” The brickfilm must be between 15 seconds to 1 minute. For information about the contest, check out the “Contest Description” on the ReBrick website.

A few of the world’s top brickfilmers recently pooled their efforts into an amazing professional quality brickfilm version of the Rogue One trailer. The production was under the direction of Christopher Gearhart (Bricks Brought to Life) and included 8 other world class brickfilmers. Kevin Ulrich (Brotherhood Workshop) (two time BFG Brickfilmer of the Year) and Spencer Katz (mobdeli) were the lead animators. The other animators included Sean Willets (theofficialfilmyguy), Zach Macias (Mindgame Studios), James Morr (Spastic Chuwawa), Tommy Williamson (BrickNerd), and past BFG Brickfilmer of the Year Forrest Whaley (forrestfire101). 2012 BFG Brickfilmer of the Year Kris Theorin (bionicle28) also designed some CGI scenes. Go to the “Animators’ Collective” for more information about the dream brickfilming team.....but first check out the trailer recreation below: Then watch the VFX Breakdown: Don't forget to watch the side by side comparison: The trailer recreation was so awesome that even Popular Mechanics wrote a blog about the video and Gareth Edwards, the actual real director of Rogue One, wrote the animators commending them on the LEGO Rogue One trailer.
